The Ponderings of a Pedaling Pastor

2 Kings 2:23-24

Day 33 of 90...Sleeping in the teepee and out of the elements was just what I needed. It was nice to sleep on a couple of bunk mattresses, and I felt well rested. It was a pretty incredible feeling to step out of the teepee and see the Tetons off in the distance! Although the cough is still lingering, I felt somewhat decent climbing Togwotee Pass this morning and crossed the Continental Divide for a 5th time this trip. Hatchet Resort to top of Togwotee Pass was 17 miles and 2918 feet climbing and only 112 feet descending. At the top of the climb there was this beautiful little lake with the mountains looking down upon it. Beautiful!! I kept hearing stories about a grizzly mama bear and her cub that have been hanging out around the top of the climb near the road, but I didn’t see any signs of them (which I was happy about). I stayed in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Dubois, WY which is known for hosting cyclists passing through. I was able to shower (after 3 days without) and do my laundry (after wearing all 3 outfits twice). Needless to say life on the road can make a person a little ripe!
The shower was great! 48 miles and 3422 feet of climbing
2 Kings 2:23-24... this is a “dark” passage that my boys love from camp and was on my mind as I approached the top of the Pass...”From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them, and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.”
