Day 30 of 90...Virginia City was cold last night! 39 degrees. Thankfully my sleeping bag is a good one. I decided to sleep in a little later to wait for it to warm up some before I started the 3 mile climb over the pass. I thought the pass was longer, so I was relieved it was only 3...it was a tough one, consistently 7-8%. Took me a half hour to crest...and then there was a screaming descent into Ennis. I hit 45 mph at one point coasting!! It would seem that the constant view on both sides of me are the snow capped mountains...whereas at one point it was rare, now they are everywhere I look. I’ll never tire of the view! Today’s climbing varied...in the morning it was steep...in the afternoon it was one long drag up from Ennis to my campground. Not difficult, but tiring. While riding along the Madison River I saw at least 2 dozen or more fly fisherman. I also passed by Earthquake Lake. Greg, Tracy & their son Trace from Missouri (my neighbors at the campground) greeted me and shared their dinner with me almost as soon as I got off the bike (burger and chips)...it was so nice to have a hot meal right after a long ride! We played a little frisbee together after I got cleaned up. 63 miles and 3325 feet climbing. Staying 22 miles NW of West Yellowstone.
