2011 Relay for Life of
Washington County

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
At Relay, teams of people can camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events and each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.

In the summer of 2009 some of our church members decided to form a Relay team to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.  Our team name "The Spirit of St. Luke's" represents not only our commitment to remember and honor our members and friends who have been affected by cancer, but also our commitment to have fun with our church family, while supporting such a great cause through our different fundraising activities throughout the year.

Amazing Grace Day Camp
in Macksburg!

Our day camps provide children with a quality Christian camp experience, right in their own community.  The Amazing Grace Day Camp program focuses on bringing the Good News of our loving God to unchurched children and children living in poverty in our synod.

                                              Blood Mobile

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person like you who makes the choice to donate. There is no substitute for your donation.

When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Currently only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

Blood saves lives, plain and simple.  While 60% of the United States population is eligible to donate blood, only 5% actually do.  Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.  More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.  One out of every 10 people admitted in a hospital needs blood.  When asked, the number one reason people give for not donating blood is because “no one asked me,” so we are asking YOU!  By donating blood, you may enable a premature baby to live, a burn victim to recover, a cancer patient to be treated, an accident victim to survive, or a transplant candidate to have a life-giving surgery.
"Nickels for Nets"

A child dies from malaria every 45 seconds.

Today we are in a special moment where we could turn this around. Working though Lutheran churches in Africa, the ELCA Malaria Campaign is uniquely positioned to provide mosquito nets, insecticides, medication, health care, education and more to help eliminate deaths from this disease—for good.
